first post. getting into RP. go easy.
So I want to talk about Manipulation TRP. I looked up the word in the dictionary. Manipulation. It said 'manipulation is to control or play upon by artful, unfair or insidious means specially to one's own advantage'.
Let's explore this definition for a minute. How often an individual manipulates others for his own gain? Quite a bit. A good example would be when one tries to sell a property, we use all sorts of manipulation tactics such as classic 'there's another couple highly interested in this property'. Or for example when one attempts to satisfy a customer's mentality in order to get a better deal. In essence, we set a scene, we chose wise words, the data we hide or present, the way we present the data are all parts of negotiation/manipulation tactic during any mean of deal.
When we manipulate or negotiate, our objective solely rely on moving the other party from their position, while standing on our own. We may explain how we feel about certain proposition or by providing facts and or hinting at negative outcome of the prospect and providing solid pointers to further your agenda/deal. These are all part of negotiation tactic. Trigger emotion, logic, threat and reward. In this exact order.
The way I see it, the way I know it. There is a very very fine line between negotiation and manipulation. Manipulation in negotiation doesn't necessarily have to be for insidious reasons. As long as you consider manipulation as a viable tactic to get a better deal, when it comes to anything in your life, it will help you score more and score bigger.
I recently started my own business and using the manipulation/negotiation tactics I have so far experienced higher level of success rate with higher level of profit margins. But manipulation doesn't only confine to the negotiation of monetary arrangements, it will apply on every aspect of your life, including our sub's favorite test subjects 'women'.
Remember, just like anything else, negotiation is an art that requires skill and a decent amount of manipulation. Live and learn. Never settle for less than what you deserve.
tl;dr manipulation is negotiation tactic.
