I think you have the problem that you're assuming that nerdy girls are the only ones who will have your interests. Just because they aren't nerdy to begin with doesn't mean you can't get them interested in your anime/gaming hobbies. If you believe that only these types of girls will be interested, of course you'll feel as though you have to have them, but it might not turn out as you want.
