Not everyone is going to start a fight, but people inevitably get butthurt when others flirt with a girl they like. Maybe you just happened to be around guys who were insecure in that moment.

I don't know you, but my guess is that you give off a confident vibe. You sound chill and not tryhard, which already forms a good foundation for confidence. People tend to get insecure when a stronger man (you) comes along.

In these scenarios, if a guy picks a fight with you, it's because they're insecure. Maybe they're afraid you'll swoop their girl. Maybe, by being around you, it forces them to think of their own flaws if you're a better man. Basically, it's usually the guy's problem, not yours.

Learn to avoid confrontation and to verbally deescalate (verbal deescalation is incredibly useful). Physical confrontations should be avoided, since most physical confrontations come from 2 people wanting to flex their dicks, rather than legitimate self-defense. You might beat the guy up, but you won't see his two friends behind you holding baseball bats, knives, chains, etc. If this is something that really worries you, you might want to consider learning something like Krav Maga.

Alright, I guess the simplest explanation is sometimes the most correct and in this case, perhaps they were just assholes. Some people are just like that I guess.

You must be one of those guys that give off a really strong aurea. It's like dogs, you entered their territory and they are trying to piss on you.
I'd try and minimize body language, just make it so you're more inviting if it's starting to become a tense situation.
