So this is my first time posting here, and I am still very new the this sub-reddit. I thought it was only about picking up chicks, I was pleasantly surprised to see it is about confidence boosting and self improvement.

Anyways, I have been recently practicing just holding a conversation with women that I don't know, ill approach them talk to them and when I am done I dont ask for their number, at this point I am just trying to become more skilled at holding a conversation that is entertaining and satisfying for both me and the woman I am talking to.

Yesterday I saw an attractive girl at school so I approached her and asked if I can sit down next to her. She says sure, so I give her my name and ask for her. I go through the basics, where shes from, her major, why that major, classes shes taking, etc. After a while I am done with the basics and unsure of where to go from there. I don't want there to be a big lul in the conversation so I tell her to play a game with me, make up stories for the people walking by. She seems a little shy and it was a little difficult for her to come up with these but she didnt seem to mind doing it, but it wasn't as entertaining nor as smooth as I had hoped the conversation would go. At the end she said that she has to go to class so we said our goodbye's and I did not ask for her number. I noticed she was actually kinda surprised by the fact that I didnt ask for her number. I will probably see her again on tuesday, do you think this was in my favor or against me?

My main goal though is that I want to have a conversation where the woman is also proactive in flow of the conversation, I don't want to be asking all the questions. How can I pull them in where they are just as invested as I am?
