Post to r/highseddit a few days ago:

I work in a large retail store. I am the only high school student, most of the other employees are college students. I am receiving "good vibes" if you will from several coworkers. The problem is, either one or both of us is working when I would have a chance. That and I don't want to be branded as "that guy," especially because I already stand out.

If you need any more details I would be glad to provide them.

Thank you!

A week ago, this girl and I were told to work together for our shifts. We had a good time and hit it off. Today as I was leaving I asked her out. Here's how it went:

I see her walking with some stuff in her hands, so I follow in step.

Me: Hey ___.
Her: Hey.
Me: You off?
Her: Technically no, I still have to put some stuff away.
Me: That's awkward. (Threw my hand here-she knew what was up. I choked.)
Her: Why is that awkward?
Me: Nevermind. I had fun when we got to work together.
Her: Yeah?
Me: I'd love to get a cup of coffee with you sometime.
Her: How old are you again?
Me: 17.
Her: Dude, I'm practically 20. You're a little too young for me.
Me: Hey, it's not an issue for me. (I pointed at her for this, I realize I shouldn't have. I then put my arms at my side, palms out.)
Her: Sorry! I gotta go.
Me: Bye.

Any thoughts on what could have been improved?
