Hey, you are running into the same issues as guys, and there are no "easier answers" because you are a girl.

You DO NOT get to know there is interest there. You HAVE to assume attraction and escalate anyway. That is what every guy / girl has to do if they want success. You have to put yourself into a situation where he can reject you.

DO NOT do anything with a piece of paper and a number. You have to have a real interaction, human to human, where you show that you are comfortable talking to someone and can confidently escalate the interaction.

Handing him a piece of paper tells him you lack social skills and can't even have a conversation with him.
