If the girl is your friend, thinks highly of you, and knows you're single, in my experience they will do it automatically.
Can't hurt to let them know you'd like an introduction though.

A. you don't need your friend to introduce you. you can introduce you. your mutual friend will be a nice take-off point for conversation

B. when you offer value to a friend/acquaintance, they're more likely to invite you out to meet their other friends.
