First you have to learn to read if they're using it as an opener, or if they just want a picture and then for you to go away. If it's the latter, there's nothing for you to do. The girl has already decided that she doesn't want a conversation with you. There's no lost opportunity.

If she is using it as an opener, trying to strike up a conversation after is going to feel awkward and desperate for everyone, despite the fact that she wanted to talk to you. It's basically "Okay, now that the picture is done, won't you please stay and keep me company?" Boooo.

What you want to do is start the conversation before taking the picture. Easy way to get started is to ask what the occasion is.
