The frequency of sending me pictures/texts/invites increased when she found out about a girl I see sometimes (who is more attractive in my opinion).
Your theory works well with this behavior.

I like your approach. Actually I did ignore her recently, now she wants to come over for a movie. I'm looking for some ideas to play with her.

if you agree to invite her over, make a bold move, and if she rejects you express major anger in a passive/aggressive way. This has worked for me to overcome stubborn LMR. I.e. don't say you are angry.. make it obvious with your facial expression, body language, but when she asks, just be like "whatever, it's fine"
Also, if she keeps trying to then cuddle etc. act lukewarm or even pull away.
