Strictly speaking, you're talking about a process in HER head that you have no direct control over. If a girl is "hung up on her ex," she's probably a waste of time, in terms of seduction, and you should probably friend-zone her until she comes to her senses. ;P

Every situation is different. Some girls this would be trivial, some girls impossible.

Start off by not comparing yourself to them. You're so much better they can't even be compared to you.

The approach I would use with her would be generally nonverbal; I don't like openly saying the ex is worse, especially if I know the guy. Use body language to convey his importance: When she talks about him positively, lean back and show a little disinterest, take a step down on the kino ladder. Be bored by her talking. When she talks about you together, lean in and escalate. Body language should be your reward/punishment system.

You can apply elements of the boyfriend destroyers from the classical canon of pickup: Use phrases like "oh yeah that seems cool." Or make him seem less dominant: "He sounds like a nice guy" or "He sounds entertaining".
