Environmental confidence is a very common issue, I have the same and my biggest goal in life is to have actual untouchable confidence everywhere I go.
Tyler from rsd touches on this a lot so search some things from him or check out the blue print decoded, but pretty much he says: our brain allows us to work in certain ways for different social situations due to outdated evolution. If you're surrounded by friends, then you feel "safe", but if you're out in a new place or don't know anyone then your brain is trying to protect you.
Example: Imagine a cave man walking to a new tribe alone or a place you don't have"status", and trying to meet women. Chances are someone of that tribe would have killed you. That's no longer a threat anymore. If you go talk to girls in an unfamiliar setting, no one is going to do anything, yet we have these relics. That's why people feel legit like their life is actually in danger fear for TALKING TO A GIRL!
To overcome, what you do is feel the fear/unconfidence and do the right thing anyway, don't worry about the feelings. It's easier said than done, but you're training your mind that there really is no danger.
