For really reserved Asian cultures I always feel girls think: Touching = Kissing Kissing = Sex Sex = Marriage You get the exceptions, but overall it feels that way to me.

JK, but going back to a guy's place in Japan pretty much = sex. Maybe because you're foreign they feel like this might not be your ulterior motive for bringing them to your place. But then you go in for a smooch and they realize they're in over their heads!

I met a girl at the gym a few weeks ago, we arranged a date for last night. It's going great, hitting it off. Start at a restaurant, then a quieter bar, then back to my place ( all 'spontaneous').

So far, so good. Leapfrogging is a good way to ease in.

During the movie shes sitting on my lap, we touch, stroibg each other etc. We're very close.

I figure it's pretty normal to kiss now but she dives out of the way.

So what seems to be happening here is that you're not paying attention to her closely enough. You say that you think it's "pretty normal to kiss now", but clearly they don't think so. The only conclusion here is that you're screening for the wrong girls here or that you're not paying attention to them and going in for the k-close before they are ready.

This hammers the point in further. You seem to be going in too early and not paying attention. And you're being inattentive in such a way that they don't feel comfortable staying long after you try to push for the k-close. This indicates you could stand to soften your approach at the k-close, tremendously.

It sounds like it's okay up until that point. But you might not want to assume so much during kino either. Keep it up but try to pay closer attention to her feedback along the way. Give her opportunities to ease out and see if she takes them. If she stays in there, you know she's still okay.

And go in for the kiss SLOWER.

How were you touching? I know a friend of mine went to Japan and had a rampage because girls like Americans so much.

Not a lot of information, what I can tell you is to fuck up more to figure it out.
