Hi Seddit,

I am looking for some advice on alpha methods of recovery from a failed joke/move/whatever.

Here's some context and my reactions:

I saw 2 pretty girls (which I didn't know) one night in a club and while being close to them I noticed that they had trouble doing something (for brevity sake I won't go into details). So I approached the group and showed the group how to do it, by physically taking the girls hands in a jokingly way.

Their reaction: although I solved their problem, they looked at me in a confused way and then looked at each other with a mocking laugh and concluded with a "whatever..." expression

My beta reaction from the past would have been shame and trying to hide from the group for the rest of the evening.

My actual reaction (still beta, but already more alpha-ish): After the "whatever..." expression I looked at the girl who had the strongest reaction and gave her a smile. I kept on minding my own business, but didn't purposely avoid the group. From her look she wasn't expecting that smile, but rather my old beta reaction.

I feel that this recovery went a lot smoother than most, what other advice can you share for maintaining self-confidence after failed attempts/jokes?
