I enjoyed reading this. You should give yourself a pat on the back, not that many people can go out alone and have a positive time and fun interactions. I've had some success going out alone, but usually spend a good portion of my night by myself- so fortunately I live in a city with a number of friends in close proximity! It's hard.

With that said, I think you need to work on pushing the interaction.

It seems like you open well and meet a lot of people and girls, but then let it die off. Start touching them on the arm when you are speaking, be a little more teasey / flirty, move girls within the bar or to another bar, ask them out (or, since you are new, you can ask them to show you around), if touching and good eye contact has been established- go for the kiss. Being able to go out and interact with all sorts of people is one big hurdle, I think pushing and leaning into interactions is your next one.

Don't be afraid to show some sexual intent, or ask for the girls number- you will get shut down a lot, but those are girls who weren't going to hook up with you anyways if you played it safe. If its near the end of the night and you have been talking with a girl for more than 20 minutes, ask her over for a drink (a lot of times "no's" here really mean "not yet", and will develop later or on a later meetup. Ex: If you get a girls number, then ask her home later that night- if she declines but meets up with you at a later date- she knows what you are going for and will be prepared for it if things go well). Always push a little further than you would if you were staying in your comfort zone.

Also, I can emphasize with you about not wanting to intrude on peoples groups if you just met them, but when its a grey area, hang in there with them. If its clear or they ask you to leave, move on. There is no crime in trying to meet new people.

Good on you for putting yourself out there by yourself. Many people wouldn't.

Because I don't frequent this subreddit, I only have one small thing to pick out of all this and it's with the lesbians. They seemed cool about you obviously hitting on one of them for awhile, and others would too, but don't think all lesbian couples will be. You avoided all the other girls because their bfs were with them and even said in a comment that you don't go after girls with boyfriends, but decided since they're hot lesbians you might as well practice. Imagine if you got really close to a guy's gf, told her she's amazing, and kissed her on the cheek right in front of him. Wouldn't go well.

Even though they consist of two women (and this is generally more intriguing/hot/non-threatening to straight men), please have a little more respect for lesbian couples. I find it really disrespectful when a guy hits on me and disregards the fact that I'm a lesbian and am with my girlfriend.

Edit: And in case you wonder, "well they could've said something, but they didn't, therefore it was okay", it's not easy for everyone to tell some random guy to fuck off.
