Text after a first date?

I always send a fun/funny/light text within a half hour.

Some kind of light non committal joke making fun of something that happened or someone said on the date.

Here's why: the dates not over. You're both thinking about it, good or bad. And by making a joke you're ensuring the date ends on a positive note; and she has good thoughts about you.

I would say you can text her with something along of the lines of, thanks for the fun night and let's do it again, but don't rush it. Plan another outing but something where you can actually sit and talk without all the background noise.

Here is what I go by that has always worked for me: text her proportionally to how well the date went.

If the date went well and sparks are flying then I'll sure as hell text her goodnight. If it went just "okay" then maybe give it a day or two. It's important to strike while the iron is hot but also not too be eager.
