This is an update from a previous post here. I ended up going to a ping pong bar with the two Germans I met last night (one of whom lives in the states, HB8, the other whom is visiting from the fatherland). The night started pretty good, but ended with a lackluster landing.

I met the HB8 and HB7 at a bar that I regularly frequent with my coworkers last night. I walked in, saw them and hugged them both. They both seemed very happy to see me. I pulled up a chair in between them and started talking, lots of eye contact, smiling and I'd put my arm behind their back while I was listening. Things were going great. I've never really been the guy who is able to hold the attraction of two girls at the same time. It was awesome being in the middle of them, listening in close to one, then the other, kinoing both to keep them going. But keeping the attention of two girls was getting tough and I hate making someone feel like they've been left out or ignored (third wheel type situation). Then their friend David shows up.

I wasn't expecting this but I rolled with it, meeting a new guy is always great. We talk, I DHV a bit, get to know him, then I slowly pawn him off on the HB7. Now everyone is engaged and in conversation, I can focus on HB8 without having to feel bad about not talking to the HB7. We talk a little more, then two of her other friends show up, a girl and her boyfriend. I introduce myself and talk with them for a bit, before I go back to HB8. The check comes and I pick it up for the 3 of us (Germans and myself). I wasn't trying to be showy, I honestly just wanted to make paying for the check simple. They thanked me and I told them they could buy the next round.

We adjourned to the ping pong bar, but all of the tables were full. I tried to take as much charge of the situation as I could, reserving us a table, etc. We go to the bar and get drinks and I start talking to HB8 again, touching her back again while I'm talking, touching her face to mine while listening and she's pretty receptive. We get over to our table and play a game or two in which she does much better than me, but we still enjoy playing. We decide to stop and she and I are finally isolated from the group.

She told me about the end of their night last night in which she and her friend almost went home with two guys and were making out, and that she ultimately felt unsafe in the situation and bailed. I kept it together and made some jokes about it, and pulled her close to me so I could hear her better. She asked me where I lived and I told her and then I asked her...blah blah blah. She told me she was very tired and kind of wanted to go home. I couldn't figure out if she was bringing this all up to give me the green light to make a move. She was so hard to read, and I really didn't know if I should try and make out with her while she was relatively sober in front of her friends, especially when I had just met them. Then she pulled up pictures on her phone from her work...dead mice from her lab. She laughed about them, I wasn't bothered. She asked me what I was doing this weekend after she told me she was going camping. I told her I was going dancing Saturday night to which she said "Really? You have to invite me the next time you go, I can't ever find anyone that wants to go dancing." I took that as an indicator that she was interested in me, but I was still unsure if I should make a move. There was a lull in the conversation and she moved out of my arm, I didn't chase. We then went over and talked to her friends, but from there on she was complaining about how tired she was and was not in the mood for talking or drinking at all.

I talked a little more with the HB7, turns out because they're all going camping this weekend in the country, they're going to cut the night short. Slowly everyone started making their separate ways. I said goodbye and hugged both of them. The HB7 invited me to come to a concert with them on Wednesday night, but I can't make it.

I kicked myself all the way home for not being able to figure out if the HB8 was interested or not. I wanted to kiss her so bad, I probably should have went for it anyways. Maybe I can salvage this whole situation by doing something with them another night? I wasn't expecting their friends to show up. They are flying to LA next weekend, so I'll be out of sight, out of mind for the better part of a week if I don't make a move soon.
