I'm not one for social media, but I think the issue lies in the fact that anyone would think more or less of someone because of the number of followers/friends they have. That is insane.

You put a good point out there. I think the problem is not the fact that you're reaching out to them in social media, but that you're getting to know them more through their profile, but you're not interacting with them. You can go read all their posts/pictures/tweets and such and then you start to form this mental image of who they are in their head, and it feels like you're getting to know them, except you're not actually interacting with them, and that's what messes with people's heads because they get more invested.

One of the few reasons I had a facebook in the first place was to make myself available to more chicks. Now when I tell girls "no I don't have snapchat/Instagram/facebook" they just assume my time is too important for that. Cause like it totally is...

This is so very true, honestly. This is golden advice. You can find out lots of stuff about her on social media that can be useful, but because of this it's not worth it. It's extremely tempting, which makes this advice hard to follow. But to put it here again: For the love of God, don't!

While I acknowledge that most of this subreddit's stance is AGAINST the use of social media, it has become an inevitable part of socializing in the modern era -- especially with younger groups such as college kids -- that I feel like more of this subreddit should cover.

I actually strongly believe that there should be a guide on how to manage your Facebook page in order to attract girls. While this is definitely not as important as the fundamentals of inner and outer game, I think it still plays a MAJOR ROLE, especially when it comes to your "social proof".

Let's say you meet a girl that fancies you at a gathering or party. Naturally, after the party, the girl would check your Facebook and add you as a friend (90% of the time they do this). This especially applies if you're from the same social group (e.g. school, organization, work, etc). Social media is inevitable, and I'd even argue, essential to your success when it comes to socializing in the modern world (especially for the younger generations).
