Two important points that I think are important to remember at any stage of this personal development, especially at the beginning (where I'm at).

Feeling scared

Often what holds you back from asking that girl out or talking to the cute girl in class or at Starbucks or whatever, is fear. Fear is this response we have ingrained in our brains from when humans had legitimate threats to their physical safety-predators, starvation, weather. We've evolved to the point where most of us don't have those actual threats, but the fear response is similar. Fear can be so strong that it causes you to think irrationally and trap yourself in this little box of irrationality. Now, sitting there at your computer or mobile phone right now, imagine yourself in a situation in the past where you've been afraid to talk to a girl. What's the worst that could have happened? If she rejected you would you have been physically harmed? Lost a limb? Been eaten by a sabertooth tiger? The answer is no. There is literally no harm that can come to you from talking to a girl you see and find attractive besides you being a little embarrassed or it being temporarily awkward. You will forget that shit within minutes, hours, days-either way it's extremely temporary and never significant enough to really affect anything else in your life. Practice telling yourself that there is no harm that can come from you by talking to that girl-you can't be hurt. You wanna talk to that cute chick, you do it and if she rejects you so what? Go in with the mentality that you simply cannot be hurt by this and UNDERSTAND that that is actually true. You cannot be hurt by this. If you can get that down when you are approaching women, you will start go to into these situations feeling untouchable. It doesn't matter what she says, anything she says or does can't hurt you.

Now, you may be asking, but what about my pride or my ego or my self-confidence or sense of worth? That leads me to my next point.

Self Worth

Realize that your self worth is not determined by the number of girls you sleep with or the number of girls you successfully ask out or get numbers from. Your self worth and value as a man and as a human being is based on what you choose it to be based on. Choose it to be based on the kind of person you are; the way you are in your relationships with people you care about; the way you treat strangers; the way you carry yourself and the values you adhere to; your accomplishments in school, work, volunteering, elsewhere; what value you contribute to the people and communities around you, your importance to the people and things already in your life. As men we grow up in this culture of constantly being told we have to have a bunch of girls and tons of pussy and money and cars and it can be really easy to see these things as a means for happiness and real satisfaction. But by themselves they are not. Your worth and value as a man and as a human being are not determined by whether or not a girl accepts you or gives you her number or goes on a date with you. Practice telling yourself that every day, instill it into your mindset and the way you live your life and begin seeking satisfaction in these things, and you will realize that you do not need a woman's number or date or sex to make you feel good and like you are an attractive and valuable man. These things all DO add value to your life and make you satisfied, but you do not NEED them to be sure of yourself and have confidence in yourself. Start basing your perception of yourself on things that really mean something, not whether a girl you've never met before turns you down or not.

If you combine the knowledge that approaching a girl and talking to her cannot do any harm to you and the knowledge that your self-confidence and value as a man cannot be determined by what she says, you're untouchable. You have no reason to be afraid of the outcome of approaching her.

Good luck
