Today, I texted a new match, which is difficult because after the first inital "Hey", it can be hard to think of what to say.

I used this text today: "Would you like to make this conversation more interesting?

If she responses with Yes or Sure, this is what I say next.

"I'll ask you a question, and you answer it honestly. If you don't feel comfortable answering the question, you can say pass. Do you want to proceed?"

You can paraphrase it how you like.

The point behind this method is that she takes it as a game at first, and you can ask her whatever you want. It can also be used to force her to answer you question even if it is vague or small talk.
