I'm there right now with a girl. Took her out this Saturday. Had an epic time, hit all the right buttons, ended up at her place, but nothing went down. I normally don't sleep with a girl the first date. She was totally down though.
The next day, good morning text. Then more and more. I didn't respond to one, and that was met with a "guess we're not having a second date then" text.
You are 100% correct in thinking that if she solves the mystery or if you text too much, give away too much, etc the attraction will slump. You won't come off cold or short. Stick with it. Make sure to still text back, just wait long times in between. Really, just text when you like.
If I'm at the gym, I'm not texting. Working, probably sparingly in between. You should have things to do, not be texting all the time.
