Dealing with a bi-polar/depressed girl. Cut ties?

I have bipolar disorder. It fucking sucks.

But as much as it fucking sucks, it's also extremely treatable. It sounds like she is either not on medication or if she is she needs to talk to her doctor and change it up.

If you love her and want to make it work, then I'd encourage her to take her illness seriously, take her medication regularly, exercise, eat right, and generally just do stuff to get the dopamine flowing.

And ultimately...if she doesn't help herself...well then dude she's probably pretty toxic to you and you're better off cutting ties and moving on. It might be a hard pill to swallow, but that's life.

Zox is wrong - even if you love her, this isn't something you need to work with. Think on a logical level for a second, you already are but second guess it because you don't want to confirm what action you must take. She brings nothing to your life. Those are your words, not mine. So it makes sense you need to cut ties with her. The love you feel is not rational and only allows for your abuse to continue. She has traits of an abuser. Women in these situations have all of society to help them, restraining orders and victims advocate groups. Men are assumed not to suffer from it.

Abused people often break up with their partner an average of 6 or 7 times before it's final. You're a victim, make this breakup the final one.

Abusers often are narcissistic, low in self-esteem, impulsive, lack planning, and callous when observing or admitting their abuse. They generally also witnessed abuse in their lives, e.g. their parents.

The things that matter in your partner is that they care about you, support you, love you, and do things just for your consideration. She is doing none of this, she is no partner.

At this junction, you either must use her for some pragmatic gain (if she's hot, sex, etc. if she's rich, money, etc.). But that presupposes your strength to control things logically. But you aren't strong enough to do that, you've said you're in love. So the natural last option is breaking up.

Had a girlfriend similar to this. Be magnanimous when you break up with her - you are actually the stronger one of the pair. She is abusive due to having a broken past and no respect for herself. You're in love and normal, because you're a functioning member in society. When you breakup with her, don't blame everything on her, don't pull out logical battlegrounds, etc. YOU be magnanimous and giving. You need to be abstract and suggest that the relationship just isn't for you. Man up and take the responsibility for breaking the relationship officially. This is about you breaking up with her, not why she made you break up with her.

I broke up with mine and she ended up telling the police I was abusive and that I assaulted her. I take partial blame for her unfair treatment of me - I was not magnanimous. I spoke logically and with blame when breaking up with her. Don't do that. This isn't about your pride, it's not about helping her, it's about helping you by removing her from your life.
