The news is just a form of gossip. Little or nothing of what you learn in the news will be applicable to your everyday life. You can't do a thing about what's going on in Crimea and it means nothing to your plans. Go on an information diet and just cut out the useless information.

For news, look at reuters and associated press. They provide the news to every other news outlet

I tend to stay away from "mainstream" news outlets because they propagandize current events, spin them in ways to make the reader take a side on the issue. Although, another way to get unbiased news is to go to every mainstream news outlet and get a full picture from boths sides, but that might leave you sad and depressed

Well http://america.aljazeera.com/ is a good one, as well as http://www.reuters.com/

They're more non-U.S. based news, and provide a more global perspective on stories.

Vice does feel more sensational, but also gives a very different perspective.

Better read history than the news. You can learn much more and predict what will happen in the future. I do not know 1 news organization that's "good"

Most of the media/news is worthless. If something matters, you'll hear about it.
