I am extremely shy. I went out on my own once and had a good time, but couldn't recreate the experience and stopped. How do I overcome this?

This is why I think people should journal.

So your first time at this bar, you realize the girl initiated everything. She's the one that made you comfortable, she's the one that got you to start talking.

The second time you went there, no girl initiated and that is why you got depressed. The problem lies in the fact that you rely on a girl to initiate the conversation first.

You're at a bar? Many things you can do. I live in NYC and my first time at a bar wasn't all that crazy but I opened up two different girls with " What're you drinking?" One girl had a ridiculously colorful drink so I said "What're you drinking? it looks like a rainbow in a cup." and she right away started talking about skittles and candy and then 15 minutes into the conversation we didn't even ask for each others names yet.

Point is, you can start with anything. People are at a bar for 2 reasons: drink and talk.

It sounds like you already know what to do just have to go do it . Also maybe invite some coworkers over with you so your not drinking alone
