So, I decided to do the LTR thing. It's smart for me as theory only goes so far. Actual action and experience are key for swallowing the pill.
So, I've started an LTR with a semi/relatively RP woman. Traditional, morally conscious, her changing her habits to match my higher value habits (eating healthy, working out, etc). It's so far so good.
I just find myself constantly battling with my old fear issues. I'm doing fairly good with keeping them in check. I don't put her ahead of me unless she deserves it. I don't constantly worry about saying or doing the wrong thing and then of what she will think. It's somewhat healthy.
The fear of losing her is still there, no matter how much I remind myself that "I can get any girl I want, I can leave at any time I want, I don't need her", there is something inside saying to me "YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE HER, SHE'S THE BEST YOU'LL EVER GET". I've been using this inner child stuff to take control of the emotions which helps.
I'm also dealing with the whole "She's distracting you from your goals", but those aren't as strong as I've already set boundaries and expectations in our relationship. I'm finding that an LTR is much easier than spinning plates. More comfort and less demand for attention once you're exclusive compared to dealing with multiple women, dates, etc.
My real questions are: Does this voice and fear ever go away? Do I want it to? Isn't it good as long as it's in check (as a reminder to keep trying to do my best to maintain who I am)?
Anyone got any advice for me?
