There's so much bullshit out there. Of course you should date girls you care about. Otherwise, why do it? The myth of not giving a fuck is based on oversimplifications of complicated topics.

If you're giving up your whole life for a stranger, then you should care less about them. That often translates to: "Don't give a fuck about women."

If you're desperate, clingy and creepy, then you should back off a little. That often translates to: "Don't give a fuck about women."

The point of not giving a fuck is not that you should care less about the women, the point is you should care less about whether or not a particular girl likes you back. She likes you, you like her = Fucking awesome. You like her and she doesn't share those feelings = Who the fuck cares? She's not the only woman in the world and you just met her. It doesn't matter.

If you want to meet women, find a hobby that you enjoy, go do it, and maybe you will find a woman there with the same interests.

You don't have to give a fuck about them YET. To go talk to a girl and start things caring doesn't matter because you haven't developed an attachment to them. If you hit on them and get rejected its not the end of the world and doesn't matter

Caring about someone comes from having a relationship with them. When you initiate a relationship, you begin to care. You don't care to begin with.

"Not caring" in this case means not being desperate, which is extremely unattractive. If you miss a bus, don't run screaming down the street after the bus, just wait patiently, another bus will be along shortly.
