I second The Red Queen. The hardest thing to understand IMO as a younger guy is the way women' use other women to judge a man's mating worth. We still live in a society that is completely under the spell of 18th century romanticism. The sensitive man that will do anything for true love is what females desire is a central story line from this genre of fiction. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sorrows_of_Young_Werther Just understand the plot of that book in order to wake up from the influence it has had on our views of love. Women are not looking for Young Werther. Young Werther is exactly what women are not looking for actually. It is exactly like if 200 years from now everyone adopted over time "50 Shades of Grey" as the norms for love and then forgot it came from a work of fiction. Guys then develop ideas to counter this fiction and call it "PUA".

IMO fictional books/movies is exactly what you DON'T want to read, as they give you a false view on women's needs (stereotypical romantic relationships, the guy needs to be super nice, pay her food, bring her out on 345826 dates in fancy restaurants, aka Disney movie relationships). Just read instructional books from dating coaches. "Models" from Mark Manson is one of the most popular, it's complete and it should make you understand women's POV without you having to dig and interpret different movies. It's also easy to read and under 200 pages, I believe.
