A quick question for you Seddit. Here's the deal. I'm a guy at a pretty small college with way more dudes than girls attending ( I know, I know, I'm reconsidering the decision myself). On the bright side a lot of guys here are nerdy and solitary, so I tend to be able to seem more outgoing than I really am. I'm a recovering shy guy, working to improve myself and experience the world after I realized all the opportunities I let slip by. I'm talking to more people, making more friends, and feeling more competent than I ever have before in my life. The main problem is that I'm a little clueless. I go out on "dates", but I can't get a read on their intentions. Basically I'll ask a girl I've talked to a few times in class or met at a party out to lunch or whatever, we'll talk, laugh, and part making plans to maybe do it again, but I never feel like I'm getting beyond basic friendship with them. I've never been in a relationship before, and any "dates" I had before I got to college were jokes at best. Basically I don't know how to read the situation or even bring these topics up. I feel like an idiot but I can't tell if they're even interested. I know I t's pretty sad, but I was wondering if maybe some more experienced people could throw in their two cents. How do you discuss relationships or tell that she's interested. Hell, how do you distinguish a date from a friendly outing. And how do you escalate things from just met to romantic interest. I can polarize, but I can't seem to do it for this, and I'm feeling a bit lost. I appreciate any help you can offer!
