I noticed that a lot of guys see rejection as something personal, sometimes it is. But, legitimately if a woman is in a relationship....no need to end on a sour note, right?

I talked to a girl who was ringing me up for a few items, the first time i met her i actually got cold feet and didn't ask for a number. Lucky for me, the very next day i had to return.

So, i continued little bits of the previous conversation and asked to take her out. She stated that she had a boyfriend. I am 99% sure it was the truth, but i am also 99% sure she was attracted to me as well.

Basically, i was honest. I said to her that she seemed like such a sweetheart that i had to ask her on a date. She said that i seemed like a really nice guy and that she was sorry but she had a boyfriend. I said something along the line that he was a lucky guy to be involved with her.

I made sure to end with a boost to her confidence / ego. Why?

  1. Boyfriends don't last forever and i could run into her again.

  2. Girls talk - I might have a better chance with a co-worker at the same store. If the first girl gives me a bad review, both girls would shut me down. But, if the taken girl tells the single girl that "he's really nice and respectful" you now have an ally.

  3. It boost your confidence to put a positive spin on not getting the result you wanted. Even when you fail, you can bow out with grace and i think that helps you to recover and jump back on the horse.
