You're trying to oversimplify things too much. Life can't be reduced to a few simple rules. You need to stop looking at human relationships like a math problem. People are weird and exist on every spot on the spectrum.

Here is how I think of it: for a woman to bang a guy, she has to like him a certain amount - let's say she has to like him 70%. When she first meets a guy, she pegs him at a certain number. If he's Brad Pitt, he starts at 99%, so he basically has to not do anything extremely stupid and he can bang. Other guys might start at like an 80 or something. Other guys start lower - like at a 50 or 60. The lower guys have to work to bring her to 70 - it can still be done, it just takes more work. This work can be gaming, letting the girl learn more about the guy, etc...

There are some guys that she just won't like, and it will be basically impossible for them to push her over to 70. They start at like 5% and nothing they can do can cause them to go higher. Those guys should just give up.

The most fucked up situation is when a guy stays right around 70% - a lot of those guys end up wasting their time on a girl that is lukewarm about them. It's much better if she really likes you .

Women don't typically categorize men according to "would bang/would not bang". It tends to be more nuanced than that with lots of gray area. There are several potential outcomes besides what you've listed.

Some examples:

She simply hasn't considered you as a potential partner, and asking her on a date could catch her by surprise.
She is attracted to you but life circumstances are preventing her from pursuing a relationship.
She finds you physically attractive, but doesn't know enough about you to warrant a date. In this case, you would have to spend more time with her in order to build a rapport.

Generally speaking you're right, if she's into you then all you really need to do is ask. If she's not, then you move on.

I agree that oversimplifying (making things too black and white) is not only a bad habit to create, but also a great way to drive yourself crazy with this. People are too dynamic for your statement to be a hard fast rule to live by, but as a generalization used to help beginners I think it's accurate enough to be a helpful guideline.
