Just stop hanging out with this guy for a bit and see how it goes. I was in a similar situation before. My friend is the shorter, not as smart and not as strong as me. To me it was never a competition i was just being myself so I never thought anything of it. But when it would come to drinking his feelings would come out and I could see the truth. He always wanted to one up me and would often want to fight me in some drunk instances because he was so frustrated that he thought he couldn't be as good as me or something. So I stopped talking to him but never actually stated anything I just acted normal like I was busy (I actually was kinda). Ever since then I haven't had to worry.

I don't know what you mean by this. If he was just being himself, that's fine. But if he was trying to lay the moves on your GF, that's a serious violation of bro code and a friendship-ender.

I'm pretty sure that his unconscious motive is to make me feel insecure or make me feel like he has a chance to "get her"

If that's what he's doing he needs to go.

And yes, probably a lot of you are thinking that I should eliminate him from my life. Trust me, I thought about it many times and probably also will in the future. But at this point I find it to difficult and draining. Due to the fact that he is intertwined in 90% of my social network.

It's not difficult at all. Here's how you do it.

1) Don't call him.

2) Don't answer when he calls you or answer with one-word sentences and stuff.

3) If you see him around be cordial but don't engage.

If he acts like a bitch, say you've been busy.

You already know the solution. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to draw boundaries. Don't be a doormat and let this guy walk all over you.

If you want to exclude this guy from your social circle, I guarantee there are plenty of others who agree. Be a leader, you can be the alpha here and show people the way.
