This is a common problem all across Reddit, it is not a specific seddit problem.

I recommend you read seddit sorted by New rather than the default setting Hot. That way you always see a constant stream of new content.

It's even worse. They have a tendency to upvote posts from companies with a big brand. I've seen shit posts upvoted like crazy, while at the same time there were posts submitted that were pure gold and they were downvoted immediately. Redditers apparently are not as smart as they think they are. They hate marketing but they fall pray for the biggest marketing tactic ever: group thinking and social proof. And they fall for it extremely easy. You need to read things without looking at votes, and use your common sense. Then you’ll find some gold in the posts.
