What you are describing reads like a common reason for procrastination.

Most people think it procrastination is simply the result of laziness. However, many procrastinators are subconsciously afraid of doing something "wrong" or reaching a less than perfect result - because that would pop their bubble or artificial confidence. (Some are even afraid of the perfect result because of the changes it may cause.) So they prefer to procrastinate.
