I've recently read Models by Mark Manson, and he talks about the idea of polarization. Just a quick summary of polarization for people who haven't the book.
- There are 3 category of girls. 'Receptive', 'Neutral' and 'unreceptive'.
- Receptive and neutral girls slowly drift towards to becoming unreceptive.
- If a girl's unreceptive towards you, it's best to move on and find another girl. However, just because a girl is unreceptive towards you doesn't mean that she hates you.
- Most girls that you meet start off neutral, but their opinion of you can be influenced most within the first few seconds of her meeting you.
- The process of having influencing a girl's opinion is called polarization. The stronger your polarization is, the more girls will becoming receptive and unreceptive towards you.
Now, my question lies in this part of the book 'A man who is uninhibited about expressing his emotions, and what he wants, will demonstrate less investment and less neediness, thereby attracting a woman and immediately forcing her to decide whether she’s Receptive or Unreceptive. And chances are, unless there’s a lot of friction present, she will become Receptive. You’d be surprised how many women will respond with attraction to nothing other than a man who is bold and willing to make a move. A lot of men get the sense that this means inviting a mountain of rejection onto you. The surprising thing is this is rarely the case. Yes, you will get rejected when you polarize women. And yes, every once in a while it will be a harsh rejection.
But surprisingly, a LOT of women will react very warmly to these advances. Remember women are turned on by men who desire them. They are also turned on by the behavior of high status. When you’re expressing your truth and showing shameless desire for her, you are demonstrating both of these qualities that turns her on. Often women who had absolutely no interest in meeting you before, will suddenly become uncontrollably attracted around you. In my experience, the more polarizing a person is, the more they are flooded with opportunities to have sex and date women. The biggest mental hurdle to this for many men is the ability to handle rejection. A lot of men have had it ingrained into them all of their lives -- and even by other dating advice -- that rejection is terrible and should be avoided at all costs. That players and alphas or whatever you want to call them, don’t get rejected, ever. As we’ll see, this is not true at all.'(page 108 and 109). By being more unique, you tend to polarize girls more (for instance, I was wearing a hat at a nightclub, and while many girls just saw me as a jerk, there was 1 girl that approached me and made out with me within 20 seconds).
My question is, how far do you need to take your uniqueness in order to polarize girls? For instance, I have a neighbor with autism; and he has dreadlocks, wears sweaters in the summer, sandals in the winter, rides a skateboard in a pretty unusual way and does some other weird stuff. Now, at what point does your uniqueness become weird? In fact, this best illustrates what I'm talking about.
