It's all a trade off between risk and reward. You can raw dog it with lots of randoms. That's a pretty high risk for a pretty high reward.

You can do your approach which brings the risk way down but severely limits your fun.

I use condoms.

No sex is ever worth getting an STD. Be especially careful about girls you meet online. Use condoms and pull out before you cum, unless you like the idea of settling down or paying child support for the next 18 years to the girl you met and fucked on the first date.

Edit I would like to point out that I would most definitely be using condoms at all times, but there's kissing, touching genitals, oral, etc. Do you avoid getting head without condom for example?

read up on the likely hood of getting an std from a woman as a man for each sexual act. Head is near the bottom, unless you have a cut etc on your junk.

Well it all depends. However, with the rise of antibiotic resistant STD's, you do NOT want to be getting chlamydia in the next 10 years.

On the other hand, if you look at the CDC statistics, a vast majority of the adult population contracts herpes at some point. This, of course, increases with age and partner count. (both yours and the people you sleep with).

Wearing a condom is all fine and good, but any dude that seriously tells you he's putting a condom for every BJ he gets is either the rare exception to the rule or a liar.

In regard to your getting your GFs tested, that's definitely going to make you safer but if chick fucked a random alpha night before she gets tested, there's a good chance it won't show on the results right away.

Point being there is only 1 sure way of avoiding STDs, and that's to not ever touch another human being. If you're not willing to do that, weigh your risks appropriately and make decisions that you are comfortable with.

I tend to always use condoms with random hookups but I don't like to use them when I'm seeing someone exclusively or in a LTR. That opens me up to risk as my partner could cheat on me and catch something.

You need to educate yourself and make your own decisions.

This is obviously the ideal and most sensible thing to do. Personally I'm ok with having sex with condoms until I get her tested
