So to be specific to my case, I went to this restaurant where the hostess was just out of this world. She was obviously on the clock, and my time to approach was very restricted. I wasn't sure if to go in strong and basically just ask her out, or make conversation with her.

How would you guys approach someone who is working, whether it is at a coffee shop, mall, restaurant, etc..?
