1: This isn't a competition

As someone else said, you don't. If you try, you'll only destroy your own standing with whoever is involved.

2: You don't own her

Ok, so my ex-girlfriend is hung up on my old roommate. How do I destroy any connection to him?

You don't. You don't control her. You don't control him.

What's more, you don't OWN her. And she doesn't own you. What should you care if your exe and roommate hang out and date or whatever? She's your exe for a reason. Do you think she doesn't deserve to date anyone ever until she dies, simply because she dated you? Do you think that anyone who is friends with you or knew you, doesn't ever get to date anyone you dated?

Sounds like a difficult way to see the world. Sounds like you're setting yourself up for a lot of pain and frustration until you let go of some of these mindsets. Your choice.

3: You made this more likely to happen

I told her not to hang out with him, but I feel like she just does it more because I told her not to.

Not your call. You don't get to dictate who people hang out with. Even if you were still dating her, you wouldn't have the right to do that.

And yes, you probably made it more likely that she'd want to, by trying to forbid her to do so. Your fear and negative emotions actually made it more likely that the thing you don't want, will happen.

4: "Seduction" isn't tricks; there's nothing to "undo"

Of course, at the same time, he is a very like-able guy. He used some pickup trick on her I believe. I want to reverse whatever he did, win her back over, and sever any connection she has to him.

Pick-up isn't tricks. It's just socializing. No magic involved. Nothing you can reverse. People meet and they connect. Or they don't. You have no real control over it, in the end. The only thing you have control over is yourself: you control your own development and your own choices about how you CHOOSE to take all of this.

5: You have to let it go

This relationship between them has been a source of heartache and emotional turmoil. Please only experts/serious answers.

The source of the heartache is your own refusal to let go of your ex. You don't "win" someone. Let alone "win someone back." But you do choose to adopt mindsets and you can choose to let go of something when it's dead, like the relationship. Or you can choose to hold onto it and feel pain until you let it go.

Worse, until you let go of this relationship, you won't be able to meet someone who fits your life better.
