How to get over doing things by yourself?

I agree with that someday guy, just focus on being positive in any interaction you get, walk pass someone? Say "excuse me honey" like what someone's wearing? Say "hey i like your style, your outfits cool/sweet" and if you're bothered start a conversation there.

I'm 19 and kind of in the same position except I don't go to uni so I pretty much have NO social life other than friends, but they're at uni too. I'm just focusing on saving up enough money to get my own living space or move in with a friend, that'll probably benefit my social life plenty with the increased freedom and flexibility.

I don't know any answer besides just doing it, and picking things to do that you actually enjoy. I was at a concert once, there was a guy there that wad kind of overweight and didn't dress well, but he just had a really good attitude and walked around just interacting positively with people. I think you just need to start with something like that in order to make yourself comfortable in that situation, and then the rest of your time there should be good since you are in the zone. Don't be outcome dependant

Tbh I do not know how to deal with everyone else being in their own groups and approaching those, so maybe someone better will enlighten us

I would take my advice with a grain of salt, but nonetheless something to think about. Don't go out looking for a girlfriend. In time, it'll happen. I had the same attitude, and that doesn't really help (for someone that's in a similar position to ours at least).

The attitude that does help is, yes, being outcome independent, but also finding those things YOU enjoy. I emphasize you because a lot of the time we don't realize that we're out there doing stuff that other people like, for the sake of other people. We are conditioned that way, we want to not be alone.

I realized after being in high school, then at uni, then grad school, that sometimes we are not meant to 'fit' into a particular group. At uni, I had different groups or individual friends I liked to hang out with, all the while just making friends with new people. That's just me. However, I may have felt that if I wasn't with everyone else, then that made me a loner. I still had friends to hang out with, I just wasn't with them all the time like I saw other people doing. Maybe you like being independent, and that's great. Whatever it is. You just find what you love, what makes you light up, and the world will come to you.

Tl;dr it's okay to be alone, you can be alone and still find something you enjoy. Finding this will help you feel more wholesome and happy, which will bleed out into the world, people will notice.
