I have never lucked into one that had hot girls in it...... how do you actually get that kind of a social circle?

Social circles are not just about picking up new friends one by one or randomly, and seeing what you come up with. That's kind of how most people have done it historically. Like they just happen to have a class with someone or work with them, and then they become friends. And groups of classmates/former classmates or co-workers/former co-workers sometimes stick together.

But there's a much better way.

Think about what kind of person you want to be around. Then go where those people are. There are groups of people who come together based on common interests or activities, all the time. And the Internet makes it stupidly easy to browse these groups, if you have even a little idea of what to look for.

This is broad, so I'll get more specific, with some examples:

Hash house harriers: Fit people who either run or hike through a mix of urban or rural environments while playing a kind of hide and seek, and then drink beer/party afterwards.
Social partner dancing: People who love a certain kind of music. Usually pretty fit people, but it's not a requirement. Organized around a certain kind of music, aesthetic, & attitude. Great for people who want to learn how to read people and learn how to be in tune with what a woman wants, on or off the dance floor.
Couchsurfing groups: Actually has nothing to do with couchsurfing, in practice. It's basically travelers and locals who want to be around travelers. Great for meeting an ever rotating group of new people.
Download the Meet-up App. It provides a way to browse a number of groups that meet-up regularly to do stuff
Look up events on FB. You can also search for something you are interested in, like rockclimbing, and find FB groups and events geared towards those things. You can browse any posted pics and membership lists to get an idea what sort of people are in a group or going to an event. FB also recommends events based on what you're friends are into.

The thing about these groups is, while there's going to be differences a hash house in one area, compared to another, but any of these groups are generally open to newcomers. That's why they create Facebook groups and events, and websites.

You act like the type of person you want to attract. If you want to attract nerds, act like a nerd. If you want to attract athletes, be into athletics. I personally don't care what type of person I attract. I'm well rounded and can have a conversation about many things, it's a blessing and a curse.
