She was probably questioning herself on what she was doing, and nervous herself. ASD kicked in when she had time to dwell on it.

You made the right decision to not press things further, and if anything does continue, she'll feel more comfortable

That said, she might have been thinking of you as a potential 1 night stand, and not as anything long term

My advice is back waaay off and let her make the next move, and date someone else for the time being. If she wants you, she'll be jealous and pursue

Pursuing her at this point will only drive her further away, and make her more nervous, there is no way to go about it other than making her comfortable. You'd be friend zoned, hard, for a long time

Move on, there are no guarantees here, and you have little to no influence over when she'll pursue further.

You were missing the point. Something just wasn't fitting for her. When she started picking on the heartrate thing, she was seeking an excuse to justify her feeling that things didn't fit for her.

When I come back she's back in defensive mode, she tells me it's late and she wants to leave.

Like I said. She kept coming up with reasons why she had to leave, because it wasn't right for her. At least at that time. That's why the reasons shifted. It wouldn't have mattered if you addressed the stated reasons. She would have found another thing to criticize.
