Lead the conversation. If her being shy is a barrier, all you need to do is be the one to initiate and lead. It also wouldn't hurt to get in with her friends, a platonic connection will let them interact with the two of you, taking the pressure off her to be social

Befriend her friends. If they aren't as shy as her then they'll be more open to talking to you. Its also a smaller jump going from mutual friend to talking to her rather than starting as a stranger.

Impress? lol wtf. Okay, dress well, have cool hair, and let her catch you looking at her and don't break eye contact. that should be enough to get her to crush on you. Actually, all u gotta do is let her catch u looking and not break eye contact a few times and that should be enough to make her curious. once she has the crush she'll try to find a way to be near you
