Short, basic Field Report here.

So it actually started yesterday, when I was sitting down at the cafeteria on my college campus, studying on my laptop. As I sat down I noticed a girl sitting across the cafeteria facing me, also studying. I saw she was cute but she had headphones in and seemed busy, so I paid no mind. I sat at the cafeteria for several hours, and I'd keep glancing at her and notice her looking back. I realized I wanted to approach, but at this point I'd been overthinking it and I psyched myself out. Got up and forced an ultimatum on myself, which I failed when I walked away without approaching. I'd blame this on being tired and out of state, since I hadn't talked much all day, but that's not a real excuse.

Today I sat down at the same cafeteria to study again, and when I set up my laptop I noticed the girl sitting there again. I continued to study and had the feeling that I'd taken way too much time, so the approach would seem creepy. I thought that she definitely noticed me sitting there and that I'd blown it. Basically what every guy thinks to prevent them from approaching. Though this time, every thought that popped into my head I dismissed. I remembered what I had planned to say to her, counted to 3, and went.

I walked over to her, made eye contact, and opened with "Excuse me, I just saw you sitting here the other day and here today, and I knew I'd kick myself in the butt if I didn't say hi. Mind if I sit down?" and she said yes. I sat down, asked about her classes, and we talked for 20 minutes. She said she had to go to class soon, so I grabbed her number and made plans to show her around campus (she was new to the school)

It's a simple approach, but just goes to show that there's never a bad time to approach. No matter what, action is better than inaction. And not many people get second chances like I did. Normally I wouldn't have seen this girl again, and that's much worse than seeming creepy or weird on an approach. So take this as advice to never feel like approaching would be wrong.
