As a guy, just ask. Be straight up. If he thinks there will be issues, he will let you know. But he probably would be down, depending on circumstances. Probably depends on if it was a mutual break. Or how he feels if there's other guys in the picture. Maybe other guys more experienced in this reddit will have a different opinion.
