It's like, in the back of my head I always have my doubts that they don't like me, just in case I do get rejected I could say I saw it coming or something and not get too attached in the meantime.

This is you having defined a number of thought patterns that you're allowing to run in the background of your mind.

You expect to be rejected.
You want to feel like you are least saw it coming. So you're busy interpreting everything they do as a worst case scenario.

The problem is, these thought patterns and all the anxiety you describe here.... It leaks into many things you do and say, in ways you may not realize.

And this ironically pushes people away. Also, the inherent mistrust and low self-esteem have a way of creating a wall between you and others, limiting how close you can get to anyone.

The only way out is to start policing your thoughts. Be mindful of thought patterns circulating in your mind and thought check significant ones against reality to see if they hold up or not.

If they don't, you have to smother those inaccurate thoughts.
