It is a feeling that can actually be explained. You probably picked up on her eye contact, smiling at you, the tone of voice and body language all in a fraction of a second. You process all of that information unconsciously thanks to many years of evolution. You're not a narcissistic sociopath.

I don't know what you mean by "a real thing," but at least in my experience I've had occasions where I've made eye contact with a woman and gotten a distinct feeling, like a jolt, accompanied by a chill. Typically, if I followed up there was almost always an attraction. Without that feeling, if I was just going on my own desire, it was really hit and miss and often required a bit more effort. So I tend to think that there is some instinct to this, but a lot of it will have to do with your own ability to Intuit nuance which is not easy, and often just boils down to the speed at which your subconscious mind is able to interpret body language, tone, level of eye contact, etc...

Yes. But only in cases where you know she's really into you. I blew a chance this past year with a girl that gave me strong eye contact in class, asked for my number, and was touching me when we talked close together. I screwed up the first date and now she's with another guy. I've moved on but the only thing I've learned from that is to act faster.
