Advice on writing a CV?

English is not my main language, there might be mistakes.

Having a solid CV is essential since it's the first impression you make.

Keep in mind I am an EU graduate student so my CV lay out will be different from the CEO or GM CV. I however have not yet been rejected when I applied for a job.

The layout I use for my CV:

Title of the document: Curriculum Vitae (Centered at the top of the page)

Make sure to add a Photo of yourself next to the personalia in order to create a more visually appealing document + HR always wants to know what you look like eventhough it should not matter (we all know it does).

Personal details

Name
Adress
Zipcode and city
Phone number
E-mail adres
Date of birth
Nationality
Linkedin page weblink (If you don't have Linkedin, be sure to create an account there)

Small self summary

Highlight points about yourself (for instance, good teamworker, strong knowledge on certain subjects etc..) No more than 3-4 lines.

Experience

Make sure that you have listed your work experience ranked based on time. Start with your latest job. The format I use is:

Job title
Time period I worked there
A rough sketch of the responsibilities and a small summary of the work I did

Schooling

Again make sure you list ALL your school/university experiences. Again ranked on time, start with your current or last school you've attended

The format I use:

Name of the school/uni
Name of the undergrad or postgrad study you follow
expected time of graduation
extra activities you've undertaken during your time at the institution
GPA

*Extra training recieved *

Under this subject I list all extra training I've recieved during work, for instance during my time as retail employee I've completed the Apple Product Professional training twice. It's always good to list the extra's.

Languages

This area covers all the languages you speak and what your main language is.
