We all share one thing in common. White, black, yellow, brown, every human being that has ever existed, has lived. Not “living” in the most basic, literal sense, which would simply be existing, but experiencing the many ups and downs that our universe hurls at us at sometimes overwhelming speeds.
Most people look drastically different from one another. Some people are naturally gorgeous, while others are less attractive. There is one innate quality, however, that all human beings possess. It is what brings us together as an intelligent species. That quality is the conscious, unavoidable feeling that one is not good enough. That you, even though your ancestors, for thousands and thousands of years, were somehow able to seek out partners of the opposite sex and procreate, do not belong in this world. Just for being alive, you are a miracle.
“I’m weird,” you may say. “Who would ever like me,” is another common self-loathing thought. Not enough people know that everyone, yes, every single person that ever existed, has at one point or another felt inadequate. Most people that would be considered “attractive” have many insecurities of their own, even though you couldn’t fathom a beautiful girl could be insecure about her incredible body.
It is up to you to tune out that white noise of doubt and embrace what makes you, you. Because everyone is unique; even identical twins have differences. Once the fear of rejection, that terrible, sinking feeling you get when someone doesn’t like you, is disregarded, life becomes less of a round of golf and more of a chaotic game of hide-and-go-seek. Except, everyone is both the hider and the seeker.
Look in places you’ve never thought you’d look before. You may find someone that sets your heart on fire.
