Guys in this forum are really quick to call people like u/ an asshole for doing shit like this, but I bet almost all of them do stuff like this themselves.

I think you have to find a way to be honest with her without coming across as super rude. You need to find the words to inform her about the situation without making her completely hate you. Don't say, "I just want to keep you around so I can fuck you later down the road if my current relationship doesn't work out." Maybe say something like, "Hey look, I like you, but just know I'm kind of involved in something right now, so I don't really have space for another relationship at the moment." If that's the truth anyways.

You have her number, sounds like she likes you. You can probably pick it back up in the future, if you'd like. But yeah, find a way to be honest without being rude is basically what I'd recommend you do. Also, you can't make everyone happy... If she does like you, and you don't really have space for her right now, she will be frustrated, and that's just kinda the way it is. That is life. That is dating. Hell, there are plenty of chicks I like that don't have time for me. Do I label them as assholes? No. They just have better things to do, and they don't owe me anything. It's not like they are directly lying to me, they just aren't making time for me. That's another thing I'd say. Never lie. It's ok if you don't really text her back and stuff like that, cus that's just the situation, but never say stuff that intentionally paints a brighter picture than what's really true. Don't take like 24 hours to reply and then be like "omg sorry it took me so long to reply, I actually like you so much." Haha. I mean, it's kind of obvious stuff..

Just focus on sending honest, sincere messages without being rude. This will be appreciated. And the fact that she doesn't get to have your time right now. Aye, that's just life, mayne. Happens to literally everyone in the dating game.
