To a certain extent yes. We all feel the same when someone approaches us to buy their useless products. Or if we see an ugly person, why do we feel repelled, and walk away?

I believe you can't get all types of people to be attracted to you, and that's OK.

Is the girl that gives you an IOI needy? Its your role as a man to initiate the interaction and take her, so its only needy if you give it a shot for the opportunity to occur but keep persisting despite her indicators of disinterest. She wasn't sold on your first impressions and so you try with showing her you are a man with balls. She's still not impressed but you keep trying to get her now its needy. Just because you are at an SMV disadvantage doesn't mean you will lose its just your more likely than not to lose. As long as you don't dread about the outcome roll the dice of luck.
