Oneitis = Usually rejected, but amazing feeling when it works. Some other girl = often successful, but not that excited about it. Anyone relate to this conundrum?

Because you’ve placed this girl on a pedestal much higher than the rest. I’m guilty of it too, it’s fine. The important thing isn’t to deny this feeling, but to know that you can date other women without obsessing over them and eventually build up that respect and love and oneitis. If you can get the girl you’re obsessing over, kudos to you. But never allow yourself to get tunnel vision. Be prepared to force yourself out of it. With enough dating experience, you become less and less susceptible to developing oneitis, because you realize that really no one on this earth is that special without earning it, not even you (sorry OP). And as a bonus it becomes easier to break out of it.
