Dude we're similar ages so I get what you're feeling.

If you friend-zoned her, then I'm assuming she had a crush on you.

Because you're already comfortable around her, you can skip all the touch barrier shit.

All you have to do is simply say "Hey, we should go and watch xxxx at the cinema with me!" or something. Don't mention 'date'.

Start being flirty and slyly compliment, but not too much. The idea here is to get her to like you again.

I met my wife when she was a teen, and she stuck me in the friendzone for about seven years(!)

I literally had about a hundred opportunities to fuck her and I blew every last one of them.

Looking back, I think there were two big mistakes that I made:

1) I think the easiest way to figure out if you can get out of the friendzone is to touch her. Nothing sexual. For instance, I once watched a movie at her place and we were seated next to each other on the couch and I never even touched her whatsoever. Even something as simple as putting my hand on her leg or touching her neck would give me some feedback about where I stood. Basically, if she's into you, and you put your hand on her leg, she won't recoil. But if she isn't into you, chances are good she'll push you away.

2) Another big mistake I made was that I made some really sloppy sexual advances. One night I took her to an adult book store, bought her a dildo, and snuck back into the dressing room and watched her try on outfits. So here I am, looking at her butt naked but we'd never even kissed.

It was this weird combination of creepy sexual advances, paired with a complete lack of 'normal' flirting. Obviously, the only reason she stuck around was because she was crazy about me, but I had a difficult time making a move.
